Obituary for Rachel Dwyer
Rachel Cirillo Dwyer of Ossining died on September 22, 2017 after a brief illness. She was 80. Born in White Plains on May 7, 1937, she was the daughter of John and Carmela (Caroprese) Cirillo. Jonathan B. Dwyer, her husband of 57 years, predeceased her on March 26. She graduated from the Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and received a B.A. in Chemistry from The College of White Plains. She received a medical technician certificate from St. Barnabas. She later shifted careers, earning a Masters in Library Science from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She blended her academic interests as the longtime medical library director at White Plains Hospital Center, where she greatly enjoyed helping physicians use pre-Internet tools like Medline.
She was a proud mother to her children, John Christopher Dwyer (Adriana Monferre) of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania and Alexandra Mary Dwyer (Ernesto Muñoz) of Brooklyn. Her three grandchildren, Daniel, Daisy and Clara, filled her with pure joy. She is also survived by her sister, Josephine Antonecchia; two nephews, Marc (Melissa) Antonecchia and Gregory Antonecchia; and two grand-nephews, Matthew and Michael, all of White Plains. A funeral mass will take place Saturday at 11:30 AM at the Good Counsel Chapel in White Plains. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Association for the Advancement of Science (aaas.org) or the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps (ossiningvac.org).
