Obituary

Obituary for Carolyn G. Stadnyk

Carolyn G. Stadnyk, aged 80, was a longtime resident of White Plains New York, who passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2020. Born to parents Alfred Horatio Gatto and Carolyn Warren in White Plains, New York on June 18th, 1940. Graduate of White Plains High School, alumni of Green Mountain College in Poultney,Vermont-- majoring in Art in 1960.
Predeceased by her Loving Husband in 2005, John Stadnyk Jr and Carolyn wed on July 18th, 1961, at Candlewood Lake Connecticut sharing 44 years. Carol is survived by her brother David W Gatto of Carmel New York and two daughters: Laurel Pezzulo and Jennifer Kelly with Four Grandchildren: Eric Pezzulo, Rachel Pezzulo, Caitlin Kelly, and Corinda Kelly.
Carol was a Homemaker for 16 years thereafter pursuing employment with The Church in the Highlands Nursery School followed by "Head Start" focusing on her passion/talents in Arts and Crafts. You could always find her baking, sewing, decorating, creating art, gardening, raising her children, fabricating elaborate Halloween costumes, volunteering in the community with Girl Scouts as well as Christian Formation classes at Memorial Methodist Church.
Carol loved the great outdoors participating in camping, canoeing, waterskiing, fishing, hiking in the picturesque Adirondack mountains, and Sunday Dinners with grandparents. Listening to Norman Vincent Peale on the kitchen radio and Walter Cronkite telling us “that’s the way it was”. Her daughters endured l- o- n -g road trips to Anna Maria Island, Nova Scotia, and Raquette Lake. The close-knit family made treks together with cousins Ann Marie Gatto and Davey Gatto to Lake George to visit with Chief Dennis, watch the bears at the dump, and annual hikes up Owls Head Mountain and Fort Ticonderoga. We laughed in the "Lean To" roaring campfires, endless games of "Go Fish" Monopoly or Bingo. Mom let Dad take the kids into Manhattan every Christmas to see the windows at Saks Fifth Avenue. We will miss her warm smile, kind eyes, and a silly laugh. We will look to the sky for a new star looking down on us from heaven.
Visiting ceremony will be held at McMahon Funeral Home 491 Mamaroneck Avenue White Plains New York 10605 Monday, June 29th @ 3- 7 PM

My greatest memory of Mrs Stadnyk Is when she helped me make my Halloween Hershey Kiss costume one year. We spent the entire day together and it was so much fun and a memory I will cherish always.
