Obituary

Obituary for Domenica Panzarella

Domenica Panzarella, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at her home in White Plains surrounded by family. She was born on October 2, 1935 in Sciara, Sicily. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Panzarella and their three daughters: Nina Constantino (Charlie Constantino), Josephine Vasta (Frank Vasta) and Rosemarie Blot (Frank Blot). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Krista Beggan (Steve Beggan), Joseph Constantino (Lindsay Constantino), Nicholas Vasta, Sarina Vasta, Francesca Vasta, Tyler Blot (Caitlin Blot) and Zachary Blot. She was the proud great grandmother of Liam Constantino and Mila Blot.

Domenica, known as “Mimi” by family and friends, was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains for 35 years where she volunteered in many capacities. She spent countless hours cooking for the homeless, serving as a Eucharistic minister, cleaning church linens with the utmost of care, decorating the church with flowers for the holidays, and loving people with her bright smile and generous heart. She loved the Lord and she loved to love others by serving them in any way she could. She felt blessed in many ways and it was the desire of her heart to share those blessings with those around her.

For more than 25 years, Domenica was a volunteer at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains. Aside from home, Burke was her favorite place to be – helping patients with their meals, getting them around the hospital, bringing them Communion, but most of all, she was a source of deep encouragement and comfort for them during their care.

Domenica’s family was her joy. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her family always came first. She simply loved spending time together, especially around the dining room table, enjoying delicious meals she prepared with so much love.

Domenica was a strong woman of great character who lived her life by godly principles. This is the legacy and example she left for those she left behind. Mimi, Mama, Grandma, Nonna – she will be greatly missed by those who knew her and loved her.

Dear aunt, it is very sad to know that you have gone away. Right now I like to remember the few but beautiful moments spent together in Naples, the beautiful phone calls for Christmas greetings, the affection that has always tied us even from a distance. I send you a strong kiss and I know that up there you will embrace my dear dad, uncle Filippo, uncle Stefano and aunt Rosa. A warm hug to you cousins and to you uncle Jovì.
