Elvia Castro of White Plains, NY, passed away August 14, 2020. She was 79. Elvia was born September 23, 1940 in Lima, Peru. On November 15, 1978 Elvia married Mario Cesar Castro in White Plains. She worked as a mental health worker at New York Presbyterian in White Plains for fifty two years, retiring in 2018. In her spare time Elvia enjoyed traveling, taking walks, dancing, and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the Scarsdale Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed reading the bible and sharing the bible’s hope for the future with others.

Besides her husband, Mario, Elvia is survived by three children: Lesley (Castro) Lighty of Hartsdale, Katherine Castro of White Plains and Mario Joshua Castro of White Plains. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Adelina Octavia Lighty, her brother-in-law Issac Olivera Sr., and nieces and nephews in Peru.
