John A. “Jack” Bambace, 85, lifelong resident of West Harrison, died on July 7th 2019 at his home with his loved ones at his side. He was born April 20th 1934 in NYC to his mother, Agnes Talbot Bambace and Frank L. Bambace. After graduating as a member of the Class of 1952 from White Plains High School, Jack joined the US Army in January 1953, and with his twin brother Bill served with the 25th Infantry Division in Korea. Jack is a Korean War Veteran and a life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Jack retired in 1999 from the Hartsdale Fire Department where he rose to the rank of Deputy Chief. Jack was also Chief of the West Harrison Fire Department in 1966-67, 1970-71 and 1977. A Lifetime Member of the West Harrison Company, Jack had over 50 years of Service and served as a Co-Chairman of both 75th & 100th Anniversary Celebrations. Left to cherish and honor his memory are his wife and devoted partner of 56 years, Gigi, his three loving children, Kathy Bambace Salvo, Jack Bambace and Wendy DeCamillo, five grandchildren, Samantha Salvo Gomez, Zachary Stein, Jack Bambace, Ray and Payton DeCamillo, great-granddaughter, Gigi Gomez, sister, Louise Cannizzaro, Brother-In-laws, Orlando Tordo & Dennis Cannizzaro and Daughter and Son-In-Laws, Frank Salvo, Andrea Bambace, Ray DeCamillo and George Gomez.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Jack’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Viewings will be held at McMahon Funeral Home in White Plains, beginning Friday, July 12th from 1pm to 4pm & 6pm-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday July 13th at 10am at St. Anthony's of Padua in West Harrison, NY. Internment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Greenwich.
