Obituary

Obituary for Josephine Santopietro

Josephine Santopietro, 92, died Sunday April 5. She was born on March 29, 1928 in Marcone, Italy and was the daughter of the late Antonio Rubbo and Antonetta (Soprano) Rubbo. She is predeceased by the love of her life, Nicholas Santopietro. They were married on September 11, 1948 in the Bronx, and enjoyed 67 years of love and devotion. They were inseparable, and together, filled their family home with joy and love. She was a resident of Yonkers, NY for many years, later moving to Cortlandt Manor, NY.

She is survived by her children, son Thomas Santopietro and wife Judith of Milan, NY, daughter Joanne Sinopoli and her husband Vito of Brewster, NY and a grandson Christopher Tompkins of California. She is also survived by a brother, Frank (Marie) Rubbo, sister Jenny Campanaro, sister-in-law Lena DeCicco and Grace Santopietro, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her brother, Carmine Rubbo and sister, Mary Pagano.

Josephine was a retired Seamstress for children’s clothing. She enjoyed cooking and baking her traditional holiday treats for her family, gardening, walking and sewing. She enjoyed making palm crosses for her family and friends every Palm Sunday. It was fitting her final journey home would be on Palm Sunday.

A devout Catholic, Josephine would pray the rosary every day. Her expression of kindness and compassion shined through her bright smile, and sweet “wink” of encouragement to all who knew her. Josephine taught her family the importance of gratitude by always remembering to say “thank you” to those who made a difference in her life. She was grateful to all those who helped her. Josephine loved all her family and many friends and always had a kind word to say to everyone. During her long illness, Josephine was sustained by her faith. She will always be remembered by her children for her courage and faith.

We love you Mom, now and forever. You and Dad are together again. You always said you would walk again. On Palm Sunday, you rose up to walk side by side with Dad on your journey home to heaven together. We have so much we are grateful to you for, Mom. No words can ever express our deep love and gratitude to you and Dad. We will miss you. You made the difference. “Thank You Mom!”
