Obituary

Obituary for Kishal Rao

Kishal Rao, a resident of White Plains, hailing from Mumbai, India passed away on August 1, 2020 after a long battle with Cancer, at the age of 56 years.

An IT professional by training, High IQ (MENSA member since 1987) by virtue, extremely-involved in all the things that mattered to her, perfectionist in all the things that she undertook; Kishal would always expect the same from her loved ones and “nagged” them to follow through.

Kishal was always a very driven individual who could put aside all personal pain or discomfort to provide any assistance, guidance and advice to anybody who approached her. This quality of hers helped her make new friends who became loved-ones in no time.

During the last 6 months of enduring constant pain 24/7, her passion to do what she loved never stopped.

She is survived by her husband Raghu Rao and daughters Kira and Anya.

Kishal was a follower of Jainism and therefore, in lieu of flowers, please donate to American Cancer Society in the link below.

We are deeply saddened and hurt about demise of Kishal. Kishal was always energetic and lived her life to the fullest. Kishal and family visited us last year in Chicago with Anya and i was awed with her energy with all the pain she was enduring to make sure both her daughters are settled in their colleage life. We have known her from 1995 as Raghu is our dear family friend. We will miss you Kishal and rest in peace. Our deepest condolences to Raghu, Kira, and Anya and the family back home.

Kishal was a joyous and affectionate person; a bravo who would face all challenges of life boldly and with a smile. I was fortunate to have you as my babhi... will miss you.

Words can often fail to express the depth of feelings and emotions and this is one of those occasions. On behalf of my wife Stephanie, I feel both humbled and privileged to have met her and spent time with Raghu and Anya as well in North Carolina in Feb 2019. It was so wonderful and thoughtful of her to visit us, and we were honored. I first recall meeting her in 1974 (RSK) where she spent three years of her life there, and then we met again in person in 2017 on our way to the Pondicherry reunion and we shared a nice ride, it was as if those years in between 1974 and 2017 just vanished into nothingness. It is often said that the divine has a plan for all of us, and touches us in different ways. Kishal will always have a place in our hearts, sending prayers, wishes your way Kishal and to Raghu, and all of your family. You will always be an inspiration in how driven you were , putting aside personal pain and discomfort and always finding time and space for others in your life.
