Obituary

Obituary for Ollie Presley-Gordon

Ollie Presley-Gordon was born May 24, 1930 to the late Howard and Sadie Tate Presley in Mebane, North Carolina. Ollie later married the late Russell J. Gordon on May 27, 1989.
Ollie was the youngest of eight siblings and shared an especially close bond with her two sisters Alberta and Hazel; both are deceased. After the death of her sister Hazel, Ollie took on the role of mother to her niece Pamela and grandmother to her great nephew Arthur who affectionately called her Odden as a baby because he could not pronounce Ollie. She loved them both dearly.
Ollie had a great love for cooking, especially making desserts; cheesecake was her specialty. Fishing was one of Ollie’s favorite things to do when she was young.
In 1957 she was employed by the Pollak family who had four sons and each day Ollie would say: “I’ll try this one more day.” After 47 years and a fifth son, Ollie retired.
Ollie learned Bible truths and symbolized her dedication to God by water baptism on June 10, 1995 and thus became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a faithful member of the Greenburgh, NY congregation until her peaceful passing on January 3, 2020 in Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, NY.
Sadly, Ollie was predeceased by her husband Russell, two sisters Hazel and Alberta, five brothers; John, Jinks, Coleman, Frank and Herbert. Ollie leaves to cherish her memory, her niece Pamela Hamlet (Chris), her nephew Arthur Presley, Sr. (Sonya), stepson Darryl T. Gordon and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and a worldwide association of brothers and sisters.
"Let his flesh become fresher than in youth; Let him return to the days of his youthful vigor.” Job 33:25
