Obituary for Rose M. Boniello (Sarli)

Rose Marie (Sarli) Boniello, peacefully left this world on Monday, June 29, 2020, after 98 full years. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Frank, family and friends. Rose and Frank were married at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in White Plains, NY on July 7, 1946 and she will be laid to rest next to him on their anniversary. She was a lifelong resident of Ardsley, NY, raising three daughters, who now with dear sons-in-law, are left to cherish her memory: Sandra and Philip Johnson of East Granby, CT, Diane and Charles McEntee III of Milford, CT and Barbara Turner of Fishkill, NY. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick) Anglim, Meridith (Scott) Cowperthwait, Elizabeth (John) DeCecco, Kathleen McEntee (fiancé Brian Lawlor), Charles (Mary Kate) McEntee IV, Matthew Turner, Andrew (Gianna) Turner and eleven great grandchildren, Thomas and Jack Anglim, Olivia and Ella Cowperthwait, Lucas and Ryan Turner, John, Erin and Natalie DeCecco, Charles V and Emma Grace McEntee.

Rose was born on June 1, 1922, the eldest of four children to Frank and Rose (Kafer) Sarli in Brooklyn, NY, but grew up in Silver Lake, East Harrison, NY. She is survived by her brother, Frank Sarli of Highland, NY, and was predeceased by brothers Michael Sarli and Paul Sarli.

A proud graduate of White Plains High School’s class of 1939, she began and spent most of her career as a legal secretary and ultimately office manager for Keegan & Keegan, retiring at age 84. She was passionate about her family and derived her greatest happiness by having them with her as much as possible. She was an excellent Italian cook and nothing would please her more than to have a full table to share a complete, multi course meal. Rose was a consummate host and loved preparing dinners for family, friends, and office staff. As a highly social person, her door was always open. She also loved sweets, the Mets, theatre, music, and politics.

Rose was blessed to have devoted and loving caregivers. Her family would especially like to thank Simone Brown and Sonja Edwards Duncan who became like daughters to her. They also wish to thank Shirley Bravo-Garzon for feeding their Mother’s creative side with art and music.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 6th from 4:00-8:00PM at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home, 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 7th, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Ardsley, NY, followed by a private burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, White Plains, NY.

Memorial donations may be made to the Tisch MS Research Center of New York, at or just be kind to someone; call a friend or relative you haven’t reached out to recently; forgive someone. All acts of kindness are appreciated.

Rose was one of the most generous people. Her door was always open to me as I played with sandy. There was never a time that she would not urge me to stay for dinner even though I was a Very Picky eater and mixed her Italian dishes. She would take a steak out of the freezer and cook it for me. Boy do I wish I had eaten her Italian dishes. I love italian food as a result. She was so lucky to have sandy and Phil for all these years. I love them both and know that she did too. I will cherish my memories.
