Obituary for Virginia V Day

Virgina Day (nee Vollmar) passed away peacefully on Friday, November 13th at the age of 96. Ginny
grew up in Port Chester, NY and married Peter John Day (deceased in 2019) on September 15, 1946.
They lived on Saratoga Road in White Plains for 62 years. Ginny worked for Greenburgh Schools where
she was a secretary at Juniper Hill School. She enjoyed music and played the piano and clarinet and was
very involved with her church – White Plains Presbyterian. Ginny is survived by her three children,
Marilyn Maiorana, Nancy Washington (Craig), and Peter (Susan), five grandchildren, Dawn Washington,
Andrew Maiorana (Genevieve), and Allison Peck (Chris), Michael and Olivia Day, and five great-
grandchildren – Kaitlin, Nate, and Josh Peck and Rocco and Gabriella Maiorana. The family would like to
extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to the staff at The New Jewish Home-Sarah Neuman Nursing
Home for their dedication to and wonderful care they provided to both Ginny and Pete over the past
four years. Ginny will always be remembered for her love to laugh. A private burial is planned and a
memorial service will be held at a later date.
